PENNSYLVANIA — A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of northwestern Pennsylvania, with snow and hazardous travel conditions expected from Wednesday through early Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory affects Crawford, Northern Erie, Southern Erie, and Warren counties. Communities included in the advisory are Erie, Meadville, Edinboro, Union City, Titusville, Corry, and Warren.
In Crawford and Erie counties, the advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 1 a.m. Friday. Forecasters say lake-effect snow could produce total accumulations of 3 to 7 inches in those areas. In Warren County, snow totals are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.
The National Weather Service said travel could become difficult, particularly during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Slippery roads and reduced visibility are expected at times as snow continues. Blustery conditions will accompany the system as a cold front moves through, with temperatures falling throughout the day Wednesday. Wind chills could drop below zero Wednesday night.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission are urging motorists to use caution, heed travel restrictions, and delay unnecessary travel during the advisory period. Drivers are encouraged to check current road and traffic conditions through the state’s official 511 travel information system.
Residents across the affected Pennsylvania counties are advised to slow down, allow extra time for travel, and remain alert as winter weather impacts the region.
