NEW JERSEY — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for large portions of New Jersey, with accumulating snow expected Saturday night into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say snow will begin Saturday evening and continue into Sunday afternoon, with total accumulations ranging from 2 to 4 inches across much of the state.

The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday for central, northern, northwest, and southern New Jersey. In parts of northeast New Jersey, including areas closer to New York City, the advisory begins later, at 10 p.m. Saturday, and also lasts until 1 p.m. Sunday.

Areas in New Jersey under the advisory include Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Ocean, Cumberland, Atlantic, and Cape May counties, as well as both eastern and western Monmouth County.

Communities expected to see impacts include Flemington, Somerville, New Brunswick, Trenton, Freehold, Mount Holly, Moorestown, Cherry Hill, Glassboro, Hammonton, Millville, Atlantic City, Ocean City, and Cape May Court House. Coastal areas such as Long Beach Island and portions of the Jersey Shore are also included.

In northeast New Jersey, including Hudson County and parts of Essex and Union counties, snow is expected later Saturday night. While accumulations are forecast to be similar, forecasters warn that roads, bridges, and overpasses in these urban and heavily traveled areas could become slick and hazardous.

The National Weather Service warns that slippery road conditions could make travel difficult, especially late Saturday night and during the Sunday morning hours. Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and allow extra time for travel. Pedestrians are also advised to watch for icy conditions on sidewalks, stairs, and driveways.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and check New Jersey Department of Transportation updates by calling 511 for the latest road conditions as the winter weather moves into the region.
