NORTH CAROLINA — Models continue to point toward a winter weather event affecting most of North Carolina next weekend.

The Euro and GFS models both show snowfall occurring Saturday, January 24, into Sunday January 25.

It’s important to note that these are just model runs and things can and will change with six days out.

It’s definitely something to watch with both models showing accumulating snow in the same general area this coming weekend.

Latest GFS model run as of Sunday afternoon January 18, 2026

The GFS has snow totals a bit lower for North Carolina with the storm showing a more southern track with South Carolina picking up several inches of snow, up to a foot in some areas.

The Euro model is showing significantly more snow for North Carolina as it shows the storm taking a more northern track with up to 20 inches of snow possible in some areas, as pictured above.
