TENNESSEE — A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the East Tennessee mountains, including areas such as Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, and Erwin.
The warning will be in effect from 1 a.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday, with heavy snow expected. Forecasters predict 3 to 5 inches of snow, with higher elevations potentially seeing 6 to 10 inches.
Wind gusts could reach 35 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions.
A Winter Weather Advisory is also in place for lower elevations, including Johnson City, Kingsport, and Morristown, from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
These areas could see 1 to 2 inches of snow, leading to slippery roads.
Drivers are advised to use caution and prepare for delays, especially for the Monday morning commute.
If travel is necessary, officials recommend carrying an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water. For updated road conditions, call 511.
