Multiple homes and businesses in Indiana without power

INDIANA — As of Sunday morning, 938 homes and businesses across Indiana are without electricity, according to the latest outage data. The figure represents 0.03% of the 3,234,854 customers tracked statewide.

Indiana currently has the seventh most power outages in the United States and ranks eighth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Out of Indiana’s 92 counties, Ripley County has been hit the hardest, reporting 760 customers without power. That accounts for 4.74% of customers in the county, the highest percentage of outages in the state.

Other counties reporting outages include Vanderburgh County with 137 customers affected, Marion County with 33, Marshall County with two, and Brown, Dearborn, Floyd and Wayne counties each reporting one outage.

Statewide, 48 utilities are being monitored. Southeastern Indiana REMC reports the highest number of customers without power, with 761 outages. The utility also has the highest percentage of customers affected, with 2.57% experiencing service interruptions.

Utility crews are continuing to assess and respond to the outages. No estimated restoration times have been released.
