OHIO — A recent bankruptcy court filing has identified 27 Big Lots stores in Ohio that may remain open under new ownership.
Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, which is managing the restructuring of Big Lots, listed 200 stores that Variety Wholesalers intends to acquire and continue operating under the Big Lots brand.
The filing, submitted Monday, names locations in 15 states, with Ohio having the second-highest number of stores after North Carolina.
Variety Wholesalers initially planned to acquire between 200 and 400 stores when the deal was announced in December.
However, a spokesperson for Gordon Brothers emphasized that the list is not final and could change.
Any objections to the takeover must be filed by Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, Gordon Brothers has also put up hundreds of additional Big Lots leases for sale to retailers interested in taking over the spaces.
