PENNSYLVANIA — Most public schools across Pennsylvania will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in observance of Veteran’s Day.
The holiday honors military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
School districts statewide have announced closures, giving students, teachers, and staff a day off to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of veterans.
In addition to school closures, some local government offices and federal buildings will also be closed in observance of the holiday.
Many districts plan to incorporate educational programs or virtual events focused on Veteran’s Day either prior to or following the holiday.
Schools encourage families to take the time to reflect on the service of veterans and to participate in local parades, ceremonies, and community events where available.
Parents and guardians are advised to check their individual school district websites for specific details, as some districts may offer limited programs or early dismissals surrounding the holiday.
Veteran’s Day is observed annually on November 11 to mark the armistice that ended World War I in 1918. Across the state, Pennsylvania communities are expected to host ceremonies, wreath-laying events, and parades to honor veterans of all branches of the military.
Students, teachers, and families are reminded that schools will resume regular schedules on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
