KENTUCKY — Most public schools across Kentucky will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day.
The annual federal holiday honors all U.S. military veterans who have served in the Armed Forces and is marked nationwide with ceremonies, community events, and moments of recognition.
School districts throughout the state typically close on Veterans Day to allow students, families, and staff to take part in local observances. Many communities hold parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, and assemblies led by veterans groups, civic organizations, and schools themselves.
Some schools hold educational programs and recognition events in the days leading up to the holiday, teaching students about the history of Veterans Day and the sacrifices made by service members. A number of high schools and elementary schools host guest speakers from local veterans organizations, including the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
