
NORTH CAROLINA — Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who had previously been reported missing in Buncombe County.
According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called Friday to the Buncombe County Emergency Operations Center on Gilbert B. B. Crook Road in Candler after receiving a report of a deceased person. Upon arrival, deputies found 18-year-old Joseph Rose, who had earlier been reported missing to the Asheville Police Department.
Authorities have not released details about how Rose died, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. No additional information about possible causes or contributing factors was immediately available.
In a media release, Capt. Chris Stockton of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said personnel are working to provide answers for Rose’s family. “Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office personnel are working to bring answers for Mr. Rose’s family. We also appreciate the concern and understanding of the community members while our personnel were on scene. BCSO personnel are committed to finding answers through a thorough investigation. These can take time and we appreciate the continued patience for us to follow through with that process,” Stockton said.
