Measurable snowfall possible across Indiana next week

INDIANA — Another winter storm could bring accumulating snow to parts of Indiana early next week, according to forecasters.

The system is expected to take shape over the weekend and move across portions of the Midwest and into the Northeast by Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

While it is still several days away and details remain uncertain, meteorologists say the storm has the potential to produce a broader area of snowfall compared to some recent systems.

Forecast models continue to show differences in the storm’s track and snowfall amounts. One model places heavier snow across parts of the interior Midwest, which could include portions of northern and central Indiana. Other projections shift the heaviest snow farther east, which would result in lighter accumulations across much of the Hoosier State.

If the current timing holds, snow could begin moving into parts of Indiana by Monday afternoon and continue into Tuesday.

Unlike the recent powerful nor’easter that impacted the Northeast, this system is not expected to bring prolonged blizzard conditions or extreme winds. However, accumulating snow could still create slick roads and hazardous travel, especially during peak commuting hours.

Forecasters caution that the storm track and snowfall totals could change as new data becomes available. Indiana residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts through the weekend and prepare for possible travel disruptions early next week.
