Measurable snow possible in parts of Pennsylvania Wednesday

PENNSYLVANIA — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for several regions in central Pennsylvania, effective from 1 PM Wednesday, February 12, to 4 AM Thursday, February 13.

The affected areas include Warren, McKean, Elk, Cameron, Clearfield, Cambria, and Blair counties.

Residents in these regions should anticipate mixed precipitation, with total snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations reaching one-tenth of an inch.

Winds may gust as high as 35 mph. These conditions are expected to create slippery roadways, potentially impacting the Wednesday evening commute.

Additional areas under advisory from 4 PM Wednesday to 4 AM Thursday include Potter, Northern Clinton, Northern Centre, Southern Centre, Tioga, Northern Lycoming, Sullivan, Southern Clinton, Southern Lycoming, and Schuylkill counties.

In these locations, similar mixed precipitation is expected, with ice accumulations up to 0.15 inches, particularly on ridgetops. Winds could also gust up to 35 mph.

The advisory also extends to Huntingdon, Mifflin, and Juniata counties from 1 PM Wednesday to 4 AM Thursday.

Forecasts predict up to one inch of snow and sleet, with ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch, especially on higher elevations.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by early Thursday morning, which should alleviate icy conditions.
