VIRGINIA — A Maryland man is dead after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway in Fairfax County, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Authorities said the crash happened Saturday at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Pohick Road in the Woodlawn area.

Investigators said a Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on Richmond Highway when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway from west to east at the intersection.

Police identified the victim as 67-year-old Anthony Williams of Maryland.

Officials said Williams was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured and remained at the scene. Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver. However, investigators are still working to determine whether the pedestrian had alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.

Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police as the investigation continues.
