Man found guilty of triple murder in Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY — In an unsettling case that touched multiple Ohio communities, Elias Gudino, a 59-year-old business owner from Copley, has been found guilty of the murder of three men and the attempted murder of a fourth.

The court verdict was delivered after a two-week trial, sealing a chapter that left Youngstown and Summit County residents reeling.

The victims – Inmer Reyes, Victor Varela-Rodriguez, and Domingo Castillo-Reyes – were kidnapped from a home in Youngstown. They were taken to Summit County, where they were bound, gagged, and shot execution-style.

Their bodies were discovered along Cordova Avenue in Akron and Wright Road in Copley. Oscar Meija-Gomez, the sole survivor, played dead to evade a fatal shot and later identified Gudino as the assailant.

“This is not a cartel-related killing. This is a jealous husband,” stated Zachary Neuman, Assistant Summit County Prosecutor, as reported by News 5 Cleveland.

Gudino was reportedly enraged due to his wife leaving him for another man, according to prosecutor Neuman.

Elliot Kolkovich, Summit County Prosecutor, appreciated the jury’s and law enforcement’s efforts, saying, “Elias Gudino took the lives of three men. Thank you to the jurors, prosecutors and law enforcement for working to get justice for the victims and their families,” noted by Cleveland19.

The sentencing is scheduled for December 18.
