OHIO — A police pursuit in Bryan, Ohio, involving Zachary Chervenka, 32, of Butler, Indiana, took a shocking turn Sunday night when an infant fell from the moving vehicle.
The Bryan Police Department reported that Chervenka, who was wanted on an active arrest warrant, was spotted at a local store.
When officers confronted him around 9:30 p.m., he fled in his car with two children inside, leading police on a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, an infant was somehow ejected from the vehicle.
Police initially did not see the incident but later located the children. The infant was taken to a hospital and is reported to be in fair condition.
Due to dangerous weather conditions and high speeds, officers ended the pursuit that night.
However, Chervenka was located the next day and taken into custody Monday afternoon by the Edgerton Police Department.
Chervenka is now facing multiple charges related to the incident.
Authorities have not released additional details about the children’s condition or the charges filed against him.
