LOUISIANA — A Houma man has pleaded guilty to destroying U.S. mail while working as a postal employee, Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced Wednesday.
Jorry Harrison, 38, entered the guilty plea on April 24, 2025, to one count of Destruction of Mail under federal law.
According to court documents, on October 25, 2023, while working on a Small Parcel and Bundle Sorter, Harrison unlawfully opened packages that were intended to be delivered through the U.S. Postal Service.
Harrison is scheduled to be sentenced on July 31, 2025. He faces up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christine Calogero and Duane A. Evans are prosecuting the case.
