NORTH CAROLINA — A lineman with Pike Electric was killed Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run crash while working along Live Oak Church Road north of Selma, authorities said.
According to investigators, a flatbed truck struck low-hanging wires that two linemen were working on. The impact caused both workers to become entangled in the wires.
One of the linemen died from his injuries, while the other was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the flatbed truck fled the scene and has not been located.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
