FLORIDA — A man riding a lawnmower was killed and a pickup truck driver was hospitalized following a crash in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred Monday along Northwest 118th Street Road. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp right curve.
At the same time, a 73-year-old man operating a John Deere lawnmower was traveling from west to east along the shoulder of the roadway.
Authorities said the pickup truck veered off the road, striking a traffic control sign before hitting the lawnmower and then a tree.
The lawnmower operator was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup, identified as a 51-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
