OHIO — Accumulating snow is expected across much of Ohio from Saturday afternoon through Saturday night, with the heaviest snowfall occurring during the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say steady snow will overspread the area by Saturday afternoon and continue into the early overnight hours.

The most significant snowfall is expected between the Interstate 70 corridor and the Ohio River. Communities north of I-70 and south of the Ohio River are expected to see lighter amounts.

Snowfall totals will vary by location, but several inches of accumulation are possible in parts of southwest and central Ohio. The snow is expected to taper off late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate Saturday evening into Saturday night as snow intensifies. The National Weather Service warned that very cold air and breezy conditions could make road treatment less effective, leading to slick and hazardous driving conditions. Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions.

In addition to the snow, very cold conditions are expected to follow the system, potentially prolonging icy conditions into Sunday. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and plan ahead for winter travel impacts.
