KENTUCKY — Some Central Kentucky residents could soon see higher electric bills after Kentucky Utilities requested a rate increase from the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC).
The PSC held a public meeting Tuesday evening to hear from customers concerned about the proposed hike.
If approved, the increase would raise rates by 11.5%, adding about $18 per month for an average customer.
According to the commission, the change would generate roughly $226 million in additional annual revenue for Kentucky Utilities, which serves more than half a million customers statewide.
The PSC has until March 30 to issue its final decision on the proposal.
