KENTUCKY — Several school districts across eastern Kentucky have announced school closings and schedule adjustments affecting classes this week, including Wednesday, February 11, 2026, as districts respond to winter weather conditions and operational concerns.
Powell County Schools will be closed Wednesday, with no classes scheduled for students. In Rowan County, schools will operate on a one-hour delay Wednesday, while Rowan County Head Start will also open one hour late.
Carter County Schools announced a full closure Wednesday, designating the day as a traditional snow day.
Several districts also reported closures earlier in the week. Elliott County Schools, Greenup County Schools, and Lawrence County Schools were closed Tuesday, according to district reports.
School officials continue to urge families and staff to monitor district communications for updates, particularly if additional weather-related changes become necessary.
