KENTUCKY — Several Kentucky school districts, along with a few nearby Indiana schools, adjusted their schedules for Tuesday, December 9, 2025, due to winter weather conditions. The changes range from virtual learning days to delayed openings.
Franklin County Schools announced that students will learn from home, designating the day for virtual instruction because of hazardous travel conditions.
Several other districts opted to delay classes rather than close completely. Both Marion County Schools and Washington County Schools in Kentucky reported a one-hour delay for students and staff.
In neighboring counties and across state lines, more delays were issued. SW Jefferson County Schools in Hanover will operate on a two-hour delay, while Canaan Community Academy also announced a two-hour delayed opening. East Washington Schools in Indiana, along with Salem Community Schools and Switzerland County Schools, will all open two hours late as well.
School officials advised families to check for updates throughout the day in case weather conditions change. Road crews continue to monitor slick spots to ensure safer travel for buses and commuters.
