Juvenile injured following accidental shooting in Ohio

OHIO — A 2-year-old boy is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the leg Monday evening.

Emergency crews responded to a home in the 5400 block of Ballentine Pike in Springfield, Ohio, shortly after 5 p.m. following reports of a shooting.

Authorities confirmed that the child sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

The toddler was initially taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Dayton Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

His current condition has not been released.

Officials have not provided details on how the child accessed the firearm.

The incident remains under investigation.
