
PENNSYLVANIA — An investigation is underway after a female inmate was found dead Friday at the Blair County Prison, authorities said.
According to Ray Benton, the Blair County Coroner’s Office was notified of the death at 10:23 a.m. Benton said that upon arriving at the prison, he determined that the inmate, identified as 55-year-old April Stamps of Altoona, was deceased.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning at a facility in Windber to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department and the coroner’s office are jointly investigating the incident. No additional details were released as the investigation continues.
