Indiana school evacuated following threat

INDIANA — Peru Jr./Sr. High School was evacuated Thursday, Jan. 15, following a reported threat, according to the Peru Police Department.

Police did not release details about the nature of the threat but said in a social media post that all students and staff were safely evacuated from Peru Jr./Sr. High School to a secure location as a precaution.

“Multiple public safety agencies and law enforcement officials are on scene actively assessing the situation and ensuring everyone’s safety,” the department said.

Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area surrounding the school while the situation is being evaluated.

Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
