OHIO — A tragic collision resulting in the death of an Indiana man on State Route 707 marked Mercer County’s first fatal crash of 2025.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 5:49 p.m. Tuesday, where a 2011 Chevrolet passenger van and a semi-tractor trailer collided west of Wabash Road.
According to deputies, 47-year-old Anthony G. Cole of Celina was driving eastbound when he crossed the center line for reasons yet to be determined.
Cole’s vehicle struck a westbound 2015 Peterbilt semi-tractor with a trailer, driven by a 56-year-old man from Berne, Indiana.
Cole was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and the case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.
