OHIO — The National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia, has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for several counties in southeast Ohio, warning of icy conditions early Tuesday.

The advisory, issued at 4:28 p.m. Monday, is in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18. Counties included in the alert are Athens, Washington, Jackson, Vinton, Meigs, Gallia, Morgan, and Perry.

Forecasters expect a light glaze of ice as freezing rain moves through the region before changing over to all rain later in the morning.

The weather service cautions that sidewalks, roads, and bridges may become very slippery, creating hazardous travel conditions during the morning commute.

Areas prone to cold air drainage may experience freezing rain for a longer period. The National Weather Service urges drivers to use extra caution and allow additional travel time.
