Human remains found during investigation in Lancaster, local woman arrested

LANCASTER — On October 9, 2024, the Lancaster Police Department’s Detective Bureau, while investigating a missing persons case, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Lynwood Lane.

During the search, detectives discovered human remains inside the home.

The Fairfield County Coroner was immediately notified and responded to the scene.

The following day, October 10, detectives arrested Katharine Arnold, 58, of Lancaster, in connection with the case.

She has been charged with one count of felony abuse of a corpse and is currently being held at the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Jail, awaiting arraignment.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. Further details have not yet been released.
