OHIO — Authorities are investigating after a pile of human remains was discovered in a wooded area along Barger Road on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:47 p.m. to the 1500 block of Barger Road after a caller reported that her neighbor had found bones while searching for mushrooms on her property.
The bones were believed to be human.
Deputies arrived shortly before 3 p.m. and confirmed the discovery.
Barger Road is a remote area that runs alongside the North Fork Indian Creek and is surrounded by dense woods.
The scene was secured, and the Clermont County Coroner’s Office responded with assistance from recovery specialists with the EquuSearch Midwest Team.
A pathologist from the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office also helped at the scene to differentiate between human and animal remains.
Authorities said any confirmed human remains will be sent to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office for further analysis and identification.
The investigation is ongoing.
