NORTH CAROLINA — A heavy police presence was reported Friday near Interstate 40 in Raleigh following a crash involving at least one vehicle.
Multiple police units responded to the area of Jones Sausage Road near the I-40 exit. Officers were seen surrounding what appeared to be a crashed vehicle.
Authorities said one person was removed from one of the vehicles involved and taken to a nearby ambulance. The extent of that person’s injuries has not been released.
Police diverted traffic away from the intersection and blocked vehicles from entering the area from I-40. Fire crews and a large number of officers were also on scene, blocking access to the Jones Sausage Road roundabout from the exit.
The incident comes after Raleigh police confirmed that a Wells Fargo bank on Western Boulevard was robbed around 9:30 a.m. Friday. Officials are working to determine whether the crash scene and the robbery are connected.
The situation remains under investigation.
