OHIO — Two Dayton high schools announced closures today as cold temperatures and heating system problems affect the area.
Dayton Business Technology High School, located in the 300 block of West First Street, confirmed early Friday that it will be closed for the day. No additional details were immediately released.
The closure follows an earlier announcement from Horizon Science Academy High School, which stated on its website that it would also close today due to heating system maintenance combined with a forecast of low temperatures. The school, located in the 200 block of Shoup Mill Road, said all after-school activities and athletics are canceled.
Students at Horizon Science Academy were instructed to check Google Classroom and school email for assignments. The school advised that teachers will be available throughout the day to assist by email.
Both schools plan to resume normal operations once conditions improve.
