FLORIDA — A routine afternoon at the Goodwill store in Sabal Palm Plaza was disrupted Friday when a store clerk discovered a grenade among recently donated items.

The Fort Pierce Police Department responded to the store around 12:50 p.m. after employees reported the suspicious object. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the item was indeed a grenade.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit was called to the scene and removed the device after determining it was real. No injuries were reported.

Police are now investigating how the grenade made its way into the donation pile. Authorities said there is currently no evidence that the incident was intentional and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Anyone with information about the origin of the grenade is asked to contact the Fort Pierce Police Department.
