COLUMBUS — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has granted reprieves of execution for three death row inmates, citing difficulties in obtaining the necessary drugs for lethal injections.

The state has been unable to secure the drugs from pharmaceutical suppliers without risking the safety of other Ohioans, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC).

The reprieves affect the following inmates:

Stanley Adams, whose execution was scheduled for February 19, 2025, has had his date moved to February 16, 2028.

John Drummond, originally set for execution on April 16, 2025, will now face execution on March 15, 2028.

James Hanna, previously scheduled to be executed on May 14, 2025, has had his date pushed to April 19, 2028.

Governor DeWine has made similar decisions in the past as the state continues to face challenges in acquiring lethal injection drugs.
