VIRGINIA — The Smyth County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an alleged member of the Bloods street gang following a month-long narcotics investigation.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation determined that Donte Durell McRay, of 124 Remington Lane in Marion, had been traveling to Columbia, South Carolina, to obtain narcotics and transport them back to Smyth County for resale. Deputies also confirmed McRay’s affiliation with the Bloods, with additional ties in South Carolina.

A search of McRay’s 2009 white Dodge Caravan led to the discovery of approximately 246 grams—just over half a pound—of methamphetamine, officials said.

McRay has been charged with possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of methamphetamine, transporting into the Commonwealth with intent to sell or distribute one ounce or more of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, and conspiracy to transport into the Commonwealth one ounce or more of a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

He is being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon, according to the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office.
