TENNESSEE — A known gang leader and major drug dealer was arrested Monday following a high-speed pursuit across Tennessee and Virginia, U.S. Marshals announced.
Jametrick Franklin King, previously wanted in Washington County, Tennessee for probation violations and burglary, was also under federal indictment for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, according to U.S. Marshal David G. Jolley.
Officials said King fled from a marked U.S. Marshals and Tennessee Highway Patrol vehicle in Kingsport, driving at speeds over 100 miles per hour along the shoulder of Interstate 81. The pursuit crossed into Virginia, where King eventually crashed his vehicle.
King was taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center and released without injuries. He was then transferred to the Carter County Jail, where he is awaiting an initial court appearance.
Marshal Jolley noted that King has a long criminal history including aggravated robbery and drug trafficking, and is a known leader of the Gangster Disciples street gang in Knoxville.
