GEORGIA — A DeKalb County school bus crashed in Brookhaven Thursday morning as heavy rain created slick and hazardous road conditions across metro Atlanta.
The crash happened near the intersection of Century Boulevard NE and Clairmont Road (State Route 155), according to the DeKalb County School District.
Officials said the bus driver and four students were taken to the hospital for further evaluation following the crash. Their conditions have not been released.
The other 25 students on board were transported safely to Montclair Elementary School, the bus’s original destination.
Authorities say the bus appeared to leave the roadway and came to rest on an embankment. Clairmont Road was temporarily closed in both directions while crews responded and cleared the scene, but the roadway reopened around 9 a.m.
The district thanked first responders and law enforcement for their quick response and assistance.
The crash remains under investigation.
