FLORIDA — Four people were hospitalized Wednesday morning after an Apopka Fire Department ambulance collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and State Road 414, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 6 a.m. and temporarily shut down part of Orange Blossom Trail.
Troopers said the ambulance was heading south on Orange Blossom Trail with its emergency lights and sirens activated when it struck a Ford truck that was exiting westbound SR-414.
The truck had a green light and continued through the intersection, where the ambulance hit the right side of the vehicle.
The impact caused the truck to overturn and crash into a third vehicle.
Four individuals were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
Several lanes remain blocked, but at least one southbound lane on Orange Blossom Trail is open. Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area.
The crash remains under investigation.
