INDIANA — Two people were critically injured and two others were hospitalized in stable condition following a shooting and car crash outside an adult entertainment club on Indianapolis’ west side early Sunday morning, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded just before 3:30 a.m. Oct. 19 to The Pony, located in the 3500 block of Lafayette Road near 34th Street, after receiving reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police found a man who had been shot while driving a car that had crashed into a barricade outside the club.

Police said the driver, who was shot, is in critical condition. Two people outside the club were struck by the car — a woman taken to the hospital in critical condition and a man in stable condition. One passenger in the vehicle was also hospitalized and is stable.

IMPD Capt. John Arvin confirmed that the alleged shooter, an off-duty police officer not affiliated with IMPD, remained on the scene and was detained. Police believe there was only one shooter involved.

Security personnel at the club spoke with officers, but authorities said it remains unclear what led to the shooting and crash. IMPD’s Critical Response Team is investigating.
