GEORGIA — At least four people were hospitalized following a high-speed chase and crash in DeKalb County Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The Georgia State Patrol reported the chase began around 7:16 p.m. when troopers spotted a driver in a stolen Kia K4 leaving a gas station at Redan Road and South Indian Creek Road.
When officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver fled east on Redan Road, prompting a pursuit.
About three miles into the chase, the Kia entered the westbound lanes near Mill Lake Drive and collided with a Nissan, spinning it around. One trooper’s vehicle then crashed into the back of the Nissan, while another officer had to remove a passenger from the car. The Kia driver went on to crash into three additional vehicles, becoming trapped inside the stolen car.
The Kia driver and the Nissan passenger were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Two others involved sustained minor cuts and bruises. Authorities have not released the identity of the stolen car suspect.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
