LOUISIANA — Four people were killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Christmas morning in St. James Parish, Louisiana, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. on LA 641, south of Interstate 10. Louisiana State Police identified the victims as Tyreione Parker, 35; Kedrick Robertson, 29; Gevin Harvey, 35; and Christina Gillam, 22.
According to investigators, Parker was driving a 2008 Honda Accord northbound on LA 641 when a 2019 GMC Sierra was traveling south on the same roadway. For reasons still under investigation, Parker lost control of the Honda, causing the vehicle to rotate and cross into the southbound lane, where it collided with the GMC.
State police said Parker died at the scene. Robertson, Harvey, and Gillam, who were passengers in the Honda, suffered critical injuries and were transported to a hospital, where they later died.
A 13-year-old passenger in the Honda was also taken to the hospital. Authorities said none of the adults in the Honda were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and the teenager was not properly restrained.
The driver of the GMC Sierra, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to the hospital for treatment. That driver’s condition has not been released.
Officials said impairment has not been determined, but standard toxicology samples were collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
