FLORIDA — Four people were arrested and trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl were seized during a drug investigation in Brooksville, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit, assisted by the agency’s SWAT Team, served a search warrant on February 27 at a home located at 6077 Cartwrite Road. The warrant was the result of a six-month investigation into Joseph Perez, 36.
During the investigation, detectives conducted several controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Perez, which ultimately led to the search warrant being issued, authorities said.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they secured the home and detained the individuals inside. During a search of the property, detectives seized 65.1 grams of methamphetamine and 6.6 grams of fentanyl, both considered trafficking amounts. Investigators also located 9.4 grams of marijuana, 9.5 controlled substance pills, two firearms, and $1,230 in cash. Officials noted Perez is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.
As a result of the investigation, four people were arrested on drug-related charges.
Joseph Perez, born March 17, 1989, was charged with sale of methamphetamine and trafficking in methamphetamine. He is being held without bond.
Jacqueline Kooistra, born June 29, 1969, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and is being held on a $1,000 bond.
