Four people arrested following bar fight in Georgia

GEORGIA — Four men face criminal charges following a late-night fight at Lake Lanier Islands on Tuesday that left one man with serious injuries.

The incident occurred just after 11:45 p.m. at Legacy Lodge, where Hall County deputies found 47-year-old Carmelo Perez Rodriguez of Bean Station, Tennessee, with serious facial injuries. Officials said the men were attending a work meeting at the resort and had been drinking at Bullfrogs Bar & Grille.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Rodriguez became loud and antagonistic toward other guests and was refused additional alcohol by bar staff. This led to a confrontation with 29-year-old Issac Gordon of Zirconia, North Carolina. David Edward Marsh, 48, of Sebring, Florida, and David Michael Higgins, 38, of Woodstock, attempted to escort Rodriguez back to his room.

The dispute turned physical inside an elevator, where Rodriguez and Higgins began fighting. The altercation continued into a hallway, where Marsh placed Rodriguez in a chokehold. Rodriguez threw punches at Marsh, who then kicked him in the face, deputies said.

Rodriguez was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment of injuries, including a broken nose. Marsh declined medical treatment, while Higgins was treated for facial bruises and a knee injury. Gordon was not injured.

As a result of the incident, Marsh was charged with aggravated battery, affray, and public drunkenness. Rodriguez, Gordon, and Higgins were each charged with affray and public drunkenness. All four were booked into the Hall County Detention Center.
