KENTUCKY — A former member of the hip-hop group Nappy Roots is facing drug trafficking charges following a raid at a Bowling Green smoke shop.

According to authorities, the Warren County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Feb. 23 at Vito’s Dispensary on River Place Avenue after receiving numerous complaints from law enforcement and other sources.

Officials said a task force detective had conducted a controlled purchase of hallucinogenic mushrooms at the business several weeks prior to the search.

When detectives returned to the store shortly after noon Monday, they reported observing Schedule I controlled substances in plain view. During the search, officers seized approximately 20 pounds of marijuana, about 2.2 pounds of hallucinogenic mushrooms, three handguns and various THC products, including edible desserts, gummies, pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes and resin.

Vito Jermaine Tisdale, 50 — also known as “Big V” — was charged with trafficking in marijuana (more than five pounds) and first-degree controlled substance trafficking (more than 10 dose units of hallucinogenic mushrooms). Both charges include firearm enhancements.

Tisdale was booked into the Warren County Regional Jail on a $6,000 bond and has since been released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
