
GEORGIA — A former Beaufort County deputy has been charged after a confrontation with three teenagers that was caught on video last month.
According to authorities, former Deputy Billy Squires was charged with four counts of pointing and presenting firearms at a person and breach of peace, aggravated in nature.
In the September 2025 incident, video footage showed Squires, who was off duty but wearing his sheriff’s office gear, approaching three teens with his gun drawn while yelling at them to get on the ground. The video also shows a physical altercation after Squires appeared to reach for one of the teens’ book bags.
Squires was fired from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office following the incident for violating the agency’s code of conduct.
Another man, identified as 47-year-old Brian Henry Stahlheber, was also charged with breach of peace, aggravated in nature, and making a false complaint to a law enforcement officer.
According to arrest records, Stahlheber, who is Squires’ neighbor, told Squires during a brief conversation that he believed a group of juveniles had a gun.
