
FLORIDA — A man is facing multiple drug-related charges after deputies say he attempted to flee law enforcement on a scooter during an arrest attempt in Volusia County.
According to deputies, 44-year-old Mario Thomas was observed making a hand-to-hand drug transaction when authorities moved in to arrest him. Officials said Thomas attempted to escape on a scooter but later abandoned it and ran from the scene on foot.
Deputies reported that Thomas discarded a bag while fleeing. He was later located and taken into custody without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, Thomas is facing several serious charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and tampering with evidence.
No additional details about the arrest were released. The case remains under investigation.
