Five people injured following two-vehicle crash in Kentucky

KENTUCKY — A collision between a tractor-trailer and an SUV in Hopkinsville on Sunday afternoon left five people injured, including two in critical condition, according to local officials.

Hopkinsville Fire/EMS reported the crash at 4:22 p.m. on April 27, near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Pembroke Road.

Emergency personnel responded quickly, and Air Medical helicopters were called for a man and a child.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, the tractor-trailer was traveling on Pembroke Road and crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Way when it collided with the SUV, which was traveling along Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

By 5:10 p.m., officials confirmed that five people had been transported from the scene. The two critically injured patients — the SUV’s driver and a passenger — were flown to Nashville for treatment.

The other three injured individuals, including the tractor-trailer driver and two other SUV passengers, were taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Health with minor injuries.

Authorities have not released further details about the cause of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
