VIRGINIA — Five people have been charged following a series of searches at vape shops in Hanover County that resulted in the seizure of over $100,000 and 20 pounds of marijuana, according to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation, which began earlier this summer, focused on the illegal sale of marijuana in local vape shops. Authorities also conducted underage buyer compliance checks at several stores, finding that 11 vape shops had sold products to minors.
After gathering evidence using multiple investigative techniques, deputies obtained and executed search warrants at several locations in Hanover and Henrico counties.
The seizures and arrests come shortly after the county moved to tighten regulations on vape shops during a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active.
