CANTON TOWNSHIP – The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday night, claiming the life of a motorcyclist.
According to authorities, the crash took place around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Deuber Avenue and Faircrest Street.
Brak V. Hayhurst, 47, was riding a black 2009 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Deuber Avenue when his vehicle collided with a white 2006 Subaru driven by 21-year-old Nicole A. Christman, who was traveling westbound on Faircrest Street.
Hayhurst was pronounced dead at the scene. Christman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the crash.
The OSHP confirmed that Hayhurst was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Canton Township Fire and EMS, the Stark County Coroner’s Office, and Rupple’s Towing responded to the scene.
While the crash remains under investigation, the OSHP has stated that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the incident.
