INDIANA — The Marion County Coroner’s Office called in the bomb squad Friday morning after a deceased individual arrived at the facility with what appeared to be a suspected explosive device.
Officials said the individual had been transported to the coroner’s office from an incident in another county. When the suspected device was discovered on the body, staff immediately followed safety protocols.
The bomb squad responded as a precaution and safely removed the device. No injuries were reported, and officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat.
“We appreciate the public’s understanding that we cannot release further details as this matter remains under investigation,” the coroner’s office said in a statement.
The office has not released the identity of the deceased individual or details about the original incident.
