TENNESSEE — An elderly man has died after being found unconscious near a roadway in La Vergne early Thursday morning.
Police responded to a call around 6 a.m. in the area of Old Nashville Highway and Murray Lane.
When officers arrived, they discovered the man lying on the ground. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have notified his family.
Investigators remain on the scene, and the cause of death has not yet been released.
Old Nashville Highway is currently closed to traffic, and drivers are urged to use alternate routes.
