TENNESSEE — A weekend gathering in a Collierville neighborhood led to eight arrests after police responded to reports of obstructed roadways and public disturbances involving drugs, firearms, and intoxication.
According to the Collierville Police Department (CPD), officers were called around 10 p.m. Saturday to Mayfield Road, near East Shelby Drive and Forest Hill Irene Road.
The initial caller reported a large group of people and vehicles blocking the roadway.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a large crowd, numerous vehicles, and the strong odor of marijuana. Additional complaints included cars parked in residents’ yards.
Police said eight individuals were taken into custody on charges that included drug and firearm violations, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and one case of assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Eight vehicles were cited for improper parking, with five towed and one seized in connection with drug activity.
The names of those arrested have not been released. CPD noted that the city’s code enforcement division will be reviewing potential ordinance violations involving the event organizer and the homeowner.
